Chad needed some new shirts for special outtings we had to attend a few weeks prior, like my parents anniversary and stuff, so I went out and bought him 5 brand new shirts because all he does is complain that hes got nothing to wear (he is such a girl).
So do to the fact that I spent a pretty penny on all the new clothes he said that it would count as his birthday gift because he both needed the shirts and wanted them, he just got them a little early.
I felt bad that I had nothing to give him on his actual birthday so when I was at the deli I picked up some of his favorite meats knowing that he would full well be VERY excited about them. I was proven right. There is one way to an Italian mans heart and that is through food.
I remember one of the first times he every came over to my house to watch a movie, we were hungry and wanted a snack but there were no chips or anything to really snack on. I remembered that my mom had gone to the deli to get some sliced meats so I figured we could eat those (not thinking how totally random and Italian I was being).
So I grabbed them out of the fridge and layed’em out for us to eat. Chad paused, then turned to me and said, ‘This is the coolest thing anyone has ever done for me!’. Not thinking that it was a big deal that we were eating cured meats (since I eat them every day) I was surprised by his reaction.
Apparently no one ever randomly served him cured meats in a social/date setting so he was pretty much blown away by my actions. I guess it also worked in my favore because Chad was going through his ‘I want to discover more about my Italian heritage’ phase so giving him slices of gabagool was like ‘follow me I have all the answers to your questions’. It was basically at that point that I stole his heart.
Give a man a slice of salami and he is yours FOREVER!
