Claudia’s niece was in the office yesterday visiting us. She lives in Calgary with the rest of Claudia’s family. She is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

She is 7 years old and she was wearing Claudias high heals walking up and down the hallway like it was a cat walk.

Then she came and dropped off this note to me…

Hahahaha! Best thing ever!

You just KNOW Claudia was the one who told her to write this.

Whats even funnier is that Claudia was the one on Twitter not me!

Insult to Injury

Big Helper

I don’t pretend to recognize that I have a pretty sweet life. Yea crappy stuff happens here and there but for the most everything is pretty awesome. However, allow me to complain for a minute…

Chad has a very important job, a job that currently is causing him large amounts of stress and will probably continue to do so until at least next April. This, on all accounts, is not a good thing.

Then we found out last night that starting mid Jan until mid March Chad is going to have to be ‘Mobilized’. What does this mean you ask? Well he is going to need to be accessible 24/7 and instead of him going home after his shift is done he is going to have to stay, probably in a hotel, very close to his workplace. This pretty  much sucks.

The schedule works so that he will be working 5 full days and then have the ability to come home for 2. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will get to come home on weekends, no, it just means he will get to come home on two random days, days where I will most likely be working. So unless the universe aligns in some magical way I will only get to see Chad two random evenings a week for almost two months.

OMG I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!

Our first year of marriage was riddled with Cancer, and frustration, and friends leaving, and people getting hurt, and every possible thing going wrong, and now, it looks like our second year of marriage is going to be filled with stress and Chad and I barely seeing each other for at least two months.

I’m going to have to plan a lot of outings with friends in order to stay sane.

Someone please turn down the suck knob.

An Observation

A man left a message on the answering machine Tuesday night calling Chad – the Strata Council President – with some questions from potential clients of his wanting to buy one of the apartments for sale. He main questions were about the occupancy by-law in the building that states for a 1 bedroom apartment 2 people are permitted to live there and a 2 bedroom apartment permits 3 people. On and on and on he kept asking Chad the same questions over the phone about how strict they were about the by-law and what the penalties would be if the broke the by-law.

Last night the man called again asking if he could meet with Chad in person to discuss the by-law. He asked him very specific questions about how much of a penalty they would have to pay if they broke the by-law, what the legal ramifications would be if 3 people lived in a 1 bedroom apartment, and how the other tenants would react to this. Again and again Chad explained to him and the family that the strata is very strict with the bi-law and makes no exceptions and that a penalty will have to be paid every month for the duration of their stay.

Why was the man asking so specifically about the by-law and the penalties involved? Because his clients plan on purchasing the apartment and moving their family of 3 in there completely disregarding the by-law with plans just to pay the penalties and pretend nothing is wrong.

This will now be the 3rd family in the building doing this.

Family 1 was previously hording their child and parents in a 2 bedroom apartment. The parents finally moved out but then the couple – full well knowing the by-law – decided to have another child. How did the family resolve this by-law issue? They wrote a letter to Strata indicating that the father had in fact ‘moved out of the building and is living with a friend’ while the mother, child, and new born live in the apartment therefore, not breaking the by-laws. Yes, because that is believable when we see him walking down the hallways every day.

Family 2 moved in as just two people but proceeded to have a baby, and then invited their mother to stay with them all in their little 1 bedroom apartment even though letters were sent out during the pregnancy warning the family of the by-law. They as well have chosen to ignore it.

Now we will have Family 3 who are completely disregarding the by-law even BEFORE they move it.

There is nothing the frustrates me more then people who just do what they want and don’t care. If Chad wasn’t the President I probably wouldn’t even know about these issues or even care for that matter,  but that fact is that I have to hear about them everyday. There is always SOMEONE complaining about these family and wanting Chad and the strata to do more and more. You have no idea how much of Chads time is spent dealing with stupid people who live in this building. It is SO frustrating and stressful and no one seems to care that they are wasting his time by being completely asshats. I don’t know how many time I have literally burst into tears over frustration about all of this. You know, because this year hasn’t been stressful enough we have to go and add people who are heartless to the list.

And now, another family, who knows full well that they are breaking the rules, is planing to move right in, and a shit storm will then ensue, and WE will be the ones who have to deal with it.

I know this is probably going to make me sound racist but I realized last night that all 3 of these families are of the same race and it really does make me wonder. As much as I try to keep an open mind and know that not everyone who belongs to a specific group is the same,  situations like this that continue to occur just get me down and cause my mind to close.

Never again will we live in an apartment building or have anything to do with a Strata.

Ironing Machine!

I made a list for myself last night, of things I wanted to accomplish before I went to bed. I’ve gotten into this bad habit lately of eating dinner and then watching ET & ET Canada until 8 before cleaning the table and doing the dishes and then I get nothing done because I figure its too late to start anything.

After wasting little time and getting everything on my list done I felt so good! It is amazing how great you can feel when you’ve accomplished your goals for the day. I haven’t felt that in a while as things at work are slowing down and the motivation just isn’t there this week to accomplish anything. Plus, I somehow spent the entire day online yesterday and got very little done so I felt guilty with my lack of productivity.

Today Claudia and I will be heading down town to do some store research and some buying. It’s small fun things like this that excite me about my job, though they don’t happen as often as I would like. The boss is away until the end of the month, but once she is back we will start to prepare for the trip to LA which I will hopefully be a part of. Nothing is set in stone yet but there is a pretty good chance I will be accompanying Claudia down there in September.

I have an hour before we go so I should finish up the last few things I have on my desk. By the looks of it we are going to finish early and then I can head home with plenty of time to wash all the sheets and towels today! Woohoo!

I have the most amazing chicken marinating in the fridge right now and I can’t wait to BBQ it when Chad gets home! I’m also going to attempt to make couscous, though its stove top couscous and I don’t know if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Guess I will find out tonight!

Your Ass is on the Line

Doing the laundry last night left me exhausted. Every part of me wants to go back to bed right now. My body is actually aching. I think I am going to take the opportunity on this cloudy cold day to do all the ironing tonight. That will probably take me two hours tonight. So much back log.

Chad and I watched The Bachelorette last night. Actually, Chad probably doesn’t want me to tell you that. But its ok because he hid behind a cutting board for most of the episode. I have actually become addicted to the stupid show and it pains me to admit it. WHAT HAVE I BECOME!? Le sigh.

The cloudyness of this week actually makes me long for fall and dark nights  and blankets and fire and couch cuddling. We are in the middle of summer and here I am wishing it was fall. Yes I have issues.

Speaking of summer, we did hit up the beach this past Saturday. Down to Spanish Banks with KAM, TMO, AC, and the puppies.

Neil joined us as well at the beach and we spent the afternoon sun tanning, walking out to the ocean, and just relaxing. There was tons of dogs everywhere and it was cute seeing them all interact and play together. The only problem was when they started to play right beside you and there was sand and fur flying everywhere. One dog was chasing after his ball and ran right over me when I wasn’t looking. My leg got scratched a bit but you couldn’t get mad at them, they were just so cute and happy.

There was also a very ‘happy’ man in a tiny blue speedo. That was probably the most awkward thing we had ever seen. His special package was very much talked about hahahaha.

After a few hours at the beach we packed up and Chad and I headed down to Kits to grab some dinner before meeting at his friend Mikes house to watche UFC 100. Yes, I partook in UFC 100.

Braised Beef Tacos

I was craving mexican food and this little place has BBQ Beef Brisket Tacos. BBQ & TACOS! They were amazing!!!

And a Meat Ball Sammich

Chad had a meatball sammich and a salad that he said tasted like a meadow.

Down in Kits

I think the place was called Abigail’s Party. We just happened to walk by it and they had one spot left on their patio so we hit it up. Very good choice if you ask me. Thats the one thing I love about Kits, there are so many little places you can walk around to and grab a drink or something to eat and they are all so cute.

So then it was fight time. I think I’ve only watched UFC once before, and neither Chad nor I are really fans or know whats going on but we had the opportunity to watch the fight so we thought we’d take it. My years of WWF/WWE prepared me for the fights. Plus I surprised everyone when they showed Brock Lesnars wife and I said “OMG thats Sable from WWF”. I was right and they were impressed. Go me!

Also, GSP wooed me when I saw him fight in those tight red shorts and he went a full 5 rounds after tearing his groin in the 3rd round. Yes, I was impressed. He’s probably the only guy in this universe who actually sounds hot with French Canadian accent.

Ok, but enough man talk.
