My Dads Famous
Friday, October 30th, 2009Oh Papa Rossi!
Oh Papa Rossi!
I really have no idea what we did Friday night. I know we didn’t go out but I don’t know what we did at home. Clearly it wasn’t eventful. None the less, we had to get up early on Saturday to help Steve and Ashleigh move. I quickly realized that I was useless because the boxes were either too heavy or too awkward to carry, so I stood around and too photos of Chad.
All this moving business obviously added to my obsession with thinking about our next housing purchase. I think Chad and I have finally settled on what kind of place we are going to get the next time around and that is comforting to know. I realized that in the end, I will always want something I can renovate, because in my brain, with out renovations it doesn’t feel like home. Moving into a brand new house someone else built and customized is like moving into someone elses house, but buying a house that is partially finished allows us the chance to customize it to our liking and make it a home. Plus, with all our connections, we might as well put them to use.
Ashleigh works at Tim Hortons so all their stuff was packed in Tim Hortons boxes. I was reading all the boxes and drooling over their discriptions; “Chocolate Covered Tim Bits”.
Oh hai baby Marcus! How are you doing? Watching everyone work while you relax?
Looking at all his little socks and tiny T-shirts caused me to poke Chad and ask if we could steal him.
Moving all the stuff into the new house went much faster. Chad can’t go down hill while carrying things because of his knees and we all know that I am useless, so Chad and I stayed in the truck and handed things out to everyone. It actually went pretty fast and we were done in no time.
Our reward was Pizza and I stuffed my face with it.
After moving we were suppose to meet up with Elise & Ryan to watch the hockey game, but a last minute change meant Chad and I went to the Pub alone.
I had a head ache by this point so I downed three glasses of water.
Southpoint Pub is cute. Two seconds away for the In-Laws, who weren’t home otherwise we would have crashed there. It was full of South Surrey folks having dinner and chatting; quite cute actually. Then this giant football team came in and sat right behind Chad. There was 10 of them trying to squish around a 4 person table. It was a bad scene, and my God were they loud.
The only thing that sucked about the pub was the service. We got there at 4 and weren’t really hungry enough to eat right away and I wasn’t feeling too hot so all we really did was order waters and beer for the first three hours. Well, apparently this annoyed the wait staff because they kept switching waitress’ on us. It wasn’t like the one waitress was done her shift so we got another one, it was that they kept trading tables, so when it came to actually order dinner no one was coming to serve us or anything. I was getting quite annoyed.
Then, of course, it was time for UFC, so all the Surrey Douche Bags came out of hiding and basically stood around all the tables like vultures waiting for someone to leave. By this point my patience with the whole experience had run out and I wanted out of there.
We got home at 8, which in Chads books is pretty shitty, but it allowed me to finish cleaning the place and I organized a wack of stuff which felt good. Plus, we had a busy Sunday so the extra sleep paid off.
Ohhhhh how I love sleep.
We got home last night at 10 and there was a power outage all around us. We couldn’t get into the garage so we had to park outside in the pouring rain and left half the crap we bought in the unlocked trunk. I kept trying to turn the lights on in the apartment because it was so dark not realizing it was so dark because we had no power. Duh. I used the power outage as my excuse for being late this morning, but there was no one here to use the excuse on so it didn’t really matter in the end. All of the plans today have been re-arranged and it has gone from pouring rain to sunny with clear skies in the matter of hours. There is something strange in the air today. I’m behind now so everything is getting postponed. Shopping and meetings tomorrow instead of today. Cleaning and organizing later on. Lots of things to respond to and people to touch base with.
Today was kind of a weird day.
We were out in Surrey all day long helping Steve and Ashleigh move.
Then we went to a pub by the In-Laws for dinner and to watch the game all by ourselves.
The pub quickly filled up with Surrey UFC Douchbags.
I had a huge headache and the TVs were so loud.
I ordered French Onion Soup.
I drove home and there were two accidents.
We drove home behind an ambulance most of the way.
Cars kept missing their exits.
We were home by 8.
Everyone is busy.
I cleaned.
Chad is sulking in his chair because it is Saturday Night and he is home.
I’m using my time wisely.
This whole Chad working 12 hours business is not my cup of tea. Dinners are screwed, bed times are all out of wack, and everything is just all over the place. I can’t really plan anything because I don’t know where hes going to be at any given time, and I have a feeling the weekend is going to be somewhat the same.
So I really don’t know what this post is suppose to be about, all I really wanted to do was post some pictures, but the News is on in the background and I can’t help but be distracted.
But anyways, Schanks Sports Bar, yes we went there again. I think this was the first time we ever got a group of friends together to watch a sporting event where our team actually one. Ok, maybe that’s a lie, but we loose a LOT of the time, so it feels like this was the first time we won.
I love this photo.
These two, they got a bromance going on I swear.
Oh Boo Boos, when will you be home?
We were given pucks with numbers on them and if that player scored your table got free beer. Our table had two pucks with two of our top scorers and NOTHING. The White Trash table beside us won, twice. Bastards. Friggin press on fake nails, blond streaks, and smoke breath.
Did I just witness a goal!?
This is Chad and Ryan imitating Elise and I. Apparently we do everything the same. Especially yawing at pubs with sports on.
Ryan and Chad kept whispering about everything Elise and I were doing that was the same, and they didn’t think that I could hear them, but I could, and they got busted BIG TIME. They don’t call me Eagle Ears for nothing. Top Notch Snoop.
The night was good. I actually loved that there were literally 3 million TV screens with 2 million different games going on. The sweet thing is that if you want to watch a specific game on a specific TV close to you, all you have to do is ask the “TV DJ” and the will switch it for you. I know, amazing.
Now I am drinking a glass of wine and realizing I have to leave in 10 minutes. Damn.
Ok, I can’t think anymore.
Friday night started out with Ryan coming over to help Chad with some Strata stuff and then staying to watch the game and eat dinner. Then it turned into Alicia coming over to use my Photoshop. Then Elise’s plans fell through so she joined in on the fun, and finally, Adams plans didn’t work out so he stopped by as well. So Friday night turned into an impromptu dinner party for 6.
Don’t Mess!
Thankfully we had enough bits of random meat to BBQ for everyone. I made a big salad and some potato fries and Alicia made a big pan of stir fry.
Look Ryan, even Elise helped out!
The boys started watching amazing hockey shots on YouTube while dinner was cooking, considering the hockey game was so crappy.
Why hello vegtable delight!
I have to say impromptu dinner truly are my favorite. There is no pressure to have everything turn out perfect, its just about what you have in your fridge and what kind of magic you can do with it. If only I treated regular dinner parties like this.
The single sausage on Elise’s plate looks funny. I think I’m just being a perv.
Whats that? Oh Hi Pat!
Of course the boys indulged themselves.
We ended up getting into a huge discussion about our family, the Rossi’s that is, and Adam and Alicia just sat their trying to figure out who we were talking about and what was going on. Luckily Alicia knows most of the stories so she was trying to make the connections for Adam. It was kind of funny watching them trying to figure it all out. It was also kind of rude of us to have a converstion for an hour that didn’t involve Adam and Alicia, but they found it interesting so it was all good.
It turned out to be a sucessful night for how random that it was. Everyone left by 1:30, only to find that the foyer on the first floor was flooded due to all the rain that was coming down that night. So of course Chad had to go down there with Contractor Ryan to see what was going on. They couldn’t figure it out so they left it for morning when the construction guys who had just finished the deck above could come take a look and figure it out. Gong Show apartment building.
The crazy Asian neighbours beside us who are hording 6 people in their apartment are actually moving out this week. Only problem is they started moving at 8pm last night, because you know, that seems like a sensible time to move large items and boxes and your screaming children. They didn’t stop until 11:30. Chad was going to blow a gasket. The kids would not shut up and the adults were yelling at each other in Chinese down the hallway. It was a bad scene. They should be all moved out by tonight so hopefully that will be the last of everything. I just hope the new neighbours are somewhat reasonable.
Oh the joys of apartments!
