I am mental.

Tired?

After work last night I stopped off at IGA to get Chad some stuff for lunch this week, then popped over to Best Buy to exchange the gift I had got my brother for Christmas for something better. I stood in the line up for 20 minutes. I was trying not to explode. There were three tills open. One was serving some Russian guy who was trying to apply for credit. It took him forever to fill out paper work and then they had to phone the credit company to see if he could be approved. He was still there when I left. I know he was Russian because we was wearing a track suit that said RUSSIA all over it.

Next there was a young Asian couple trying to return an XBox, but first wanted to exchange it for something, and then changed their minds and wanted a refund, and then changed their minds and wanted a Wii and then I almost Karate Chopped their heads off. So frustrating listening to this knowing that my exchange would literally take 5 minutes.

The third guy was the only one actually moving people, through it still seemed to take him forever to do anything.

The girl in front of me had been waiting longer then I had. When she finally got up to the counter she tried to return a cable she had bought for her money back with no receipt. Yea nice try. I can’t believe she waited in line that long for something I could have told her she wouldn’t have gotten.

The girl behind me, who had only been waiting there 5 minutes once I was at the front of the line, was physically losing her shit. Calm down there Missy, I’ve been in this line for 20 minutes.

Once I got to the counter my exchange literally took 5 minutes. Told you.

I got home and had a shower right away so that I could cozy up in my PJ’s and then clean the bathroom after dinner since I didn’t have time on the weekend. The hot water basically ran out on me.

I decided to make my favorite pasta for dinner since I knew Chad was going to be late and he doesn’t like my favorite pasta. I added too much flour because I read the recipe wrong (second time in a week) and so the sauce became very thick. To remedy this I decided to add about 1000 calories worth of cheese to the mix. The pasta was good but holy crap did I end up with a lot of left overs. I also ended up with a kitchen covered in four, cheese, and too many used utensils.

My plan was to make Chad a small pot of his favorite pasta when he got home so I got everything ready and pulled the sauce out of the freezer so it would be thawed by the time I needed it.

Every hour Chad would send me another txt “Getting close, probably just another hour”.

Had I been smart, I would have just made dinner as normal, put together a plate for him, and kept it warm until he got home, then I would have stopped worrying about it and gone about my evening.

However, had Chad come home at a reasonable hour, making him a fresh pot of pasta wouldn’t have been an issue at all.

By 11pm I was falling asleep. “Chad, srsly, are you coming home at all tonight?” “Yea, the job is almost done. I will leave in 15 minutes”.

At 12pm he got home and I was falling asleep on the floor with the stove on and the hot water boiling.

Yes it is true. I stayed up until midnight so I could make my husband a fresh pot of pasta when he got home from work. I know I am an Italian Housewife and all, but now I just think I am mental.

I blame that 1940s movie Chad was watching about this Air Force guy who came home from a mission at 4 in the morning and his wife was there waiting for him, dressed to the 9s, to make him a fresh meal.

Mental note Danielle, its not the 1940s anymore. Get your shit together.

Yea, not doing that again.

While I can totally see how frustrating that whole day/situation was, it’s still such a sweet gesture on your part that it melts MY heart!
