I got a library card!
I didn’t realize how excited libraries make me until I was in one again. It’s been forever since I’ve been in a library, probably since my University days, but it was so neat to get a library card again. I felt like a kid, wide eyed and excited that I could borrow and read all of these books for free!
I was never much of a reader as a kid. You can probably tell by my horrible spelling, which, I can assure you, has improved with age. Imagine what it USED to be.
I got back into books on our Honeymoon when I randomly picked up The Gum Thief by Douglas Coupland. It is one of my favorite books of all time and I really love reading his stuff, but it wasn’t until picking up the Harry Potter series earlier this year that I turned into a ‘must read something before bed every single night’ kind of a reader.
The fact that I have read 8 books so far this year and it is only June blows my mind. This is some kind of record for me.
I decided since I wasn’t much of a reader as a kid and it was such a struggle for me to get through the novels assigned in school, I would go back and revisit some of the books from my childhood. I’ve started off with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe but I think I also want to read 21 Balloons, and Island of the Blue Dolphins since I only remember bits and piece of them and I think it would be fun to read them as an adult.
Now the possibilities of books I can read are endless. Not to mention that the Coquitlam library has quite the selection of up to date DVDs all for FREE. Hello Friday night plans!
Haha I can’t believe how excited I am now that I get to read all of these books for free!

I racked up major library fines when I was a kid, I don’t think the Wpg Public Library would give me a card now :\
