Snapping The Whip

I think it’s official. This is not a small kitchen reno, this is a giant friggin money guzzling upgrade. I realized this after we went to Home Depot last night in the middle of a thunder storm to buy electrical things. $600 for 72″ of under cabinet lighting, 5 puck lights, and a bazillion switches and plugs. $600 for stuff that’s not even fun. That’s just depressing.

This weekend Chad and I did a few small things around the house. The amount of stuff we can do ourselves is getting smaller and smaller, and the amount of stuff we need our wonderful contractor for is getting bigger and bigger. This makes me antsy and impatient haha. RYAN! I WANT MY WINDOWS INSTALLED!!! At least on Sunday we were able to finish tiling the front door and basement landings. Chad was also able to add to his list of accomplishments. He is now a ‘Tilesmith’.

We have also hammered out 95% of the kitchen cabinet info. It’s been a back and forth ping pong game but we have finally figured out what we are going to do and how we are going to do it. My Uncles have been a big help in figuring everything out and I feel very good about our decisions. By the end of the week everything should be set in stone and production can start, which is really exciting!

As for now, everything is quiet. The whole family is up at Manning as per usual (except for Chad and I of course) so we have to wait for everyone to come back home before we can work on the house some more. A relaxing break for everyone except me because I am ANSTY! Haha I need to calm down and relax myself.

Work work work work. I want to get things done!

  1. …can you repaint your front door and the side window panels to look like the Italian Flag?

  2. Wow, that is no small renovation! Looks like you guys are going all out and will be for quite awhile until all of that is done. We once attempted a renovation, or rather the woman who lives with me decided we would. She got tired midway through and just stopped. But she didn’t want me finishing it without her so it just stayed half-done for over a year. So awesome. Yeah, don’t stop until it’s done. It’ll make you crazy otherwise.

  3. How ironic…”in the middle of a thunder storm to buy electrical things”! Just to funny, but it’s nice to see things are going well. More man-power will help if things are to be completed faster (or at a pace you will like it to be).
