Kick Boards and Sanded Floors

My Uncles came by this weekend to install the kick-boards in the kitchen. I had a slight panic attack when I saw they were black because I thought they had forgot that we change the design from white and black cabinets to all white cabinets. Turns out kick-boards are supposed to be black. Crisis averted! My Uncle explained that it will look good with our grey tiles and make the cabinets look like they are floating. Fancy!

Once the kick-boards were installed we promptly filled the kitchen with baseboards since we had to get them out of the way so the hardwood could be refinished. I thought about putting them downstairs, but there isn’t a lot of room down there + we would have had to awkwardly carry them all downstairs + they would be in the way when we moved all the furniture upstairs, so in the kitchen they went.

All the floors were sanded yesterday. We get to go check them out tonight in their raw state and then see what the different stain colours look like on the wood. I am very excited to see the choices. This is going to be such a huge change. Much like the apartment, there is not a surface in this house that has not, and will not be changed, and these floors are going to be a big one.

Finished Tiles

I also spent last week finishing off the tiles, cleaning and sealing everything. I am quite happy with the way they turned out.

Clean Car Port

We also did a major dump run on Sunday and got rid of all the old windows, wood, and other garbage that had been piling up. Now we can finally use our carport!

Things are definitely coming together!
