This is the page where you get to know the people I talk about all the time!
Adam
Adam is Alicias boyfriend. We started a sexting affair when he realized that I was the only Italian on his BBM. From there, we couldn’t keep our phones off of each other. It has now become tradition that I secretly molest him in from of Alicia. Adam is the sweetest guy ever. He had flowers sent to the office on my birthday from Alicia and himself. Mostly, he just did that to show up Chad. Together, him and Alicia are the cutest ever, and they spoil Chad and I with their thoughtfulness!
Alicia
Alicia and I met in the summer of 2007 when she started her position at our current employer 2 weeks after I did. We share the main office of the building which is basically like the reception area. Aside from our hired positions we also share the responsibility of playing Receptionist on a daily basis. If it wasn’t for her, work days would go by very slowly. We like to occasionally swear and harass each other but all in good humour. We’ve spent so much time together that we have began to dress a like, talk a like, and act a like. She is my favorite female halfbreed and I’m her favorite Italian (but it’s a secret)
Alicia (in Australia!)
Alicia is my cousin who lives in Australia. The first time we met was in April of 2006 when I went to visit family in Australia. There, Alicia and I became fast friends and quickly realized that were the exact same person just on opposite ends of the world. A month after our return home Alicia decided that she missed me so much that she would come to visit Canada for the first time. It was crazy seeing her sitting in my living room a month after I was sitting in hers! The time we spent together during that visit were some of the best times of my life. I was lucky enough to see her again when she came this past summer with her sister and dad for our wedding. She’s making plans to move here for 6 months and if that actually pulls through its going to be so much fun. It still amazes me when I think about how alike we both are.
Chad
Chad is my husband who I met through my blog. Some times he likes to think that he is more Italian then me even though we know that it’s a lie. He likes to make funny faces and often talks about bowel movements at the dinner table. He is the goof to my ball.
Claudia
Claudia is the designer for the company I work for. She is tiny and Chilean and one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever met. She is obsessed with Adam Lambert, and wearing high heels. Claudia, Alicia, and I are as thick as thieves. We constantly harass each other, dress alike, and laugh hysterically through out the day. Claudia and I have traveled together for work and have encountered quite a few adventures on our own. Claudia always has a story to tell and it always amazes me all the things shes done in her life. Claudia is the most interesting woman in the world!
Colin
Colin is a giant. He is also a chef. He is also, also Ryans younger brother. Colin is my new best friend because all we do is talk about food. I love food and he works with food so it really is a match made in heaven. Food heaven. Chad and I visited the restaurant that he works at and it was one of our best food experiences ever. One day, we are going to make gnocchi and veal cheeks. Maybe, one day, we will open the most amazing Italian restaurant ever.
Cristina
Cristina is one of my younger cousins who was in my bridal party. She lives in a big house with a big yard and every year we use to camp out in a tent under her big trees. The last year we slept out there, it was only us two and we froze our buns off even though it was the end of August. We once bought pet pumpkins and names them Pink & Floyd. We tend to talk about Pride & Prejudice a lot, and spend a lot of time dreaming about Mr. Darcy. Cristina was also one of my models when I did a photo shot for my clothing line in 4th year.
Dario
I’ve known Dario since he was in the womb. Our Mothers are best friends and we have grown up together sharing every single birthday and memorable celebration together. Dario is like a brother to me and we have so much in common it’s like we are twins. We’ve always been there for each other and I am excited to see our families and kids grow up together much like we did. I’m sure all of our family traditions will be passed on through us and there will be wine making and salami eating for many many years.
Elise
Elise is my ‘Best Friend’, first cousin and we were each others ‘Maids of Honor’. We’ve always had a funny relationship that started off as enemies and turned into allies. We are the kind of cousins who always fought over the top bunk when we went camping but then would team up to defeat anyone in a doubles tennis match. She once tried to convince me that the Beatles died in a plane crash, but I didn’t believe it. She then tried to convince me that the reason she had scratches on her face was because a squirrel attacked her when she went for a walk. That I believed.
Elisa
Elisa lives in my pocket. Ok, shes doesn’t technically live in my pocket but she is so adorable that she could. We met through family friends when her family (who is from Italy) came to visit our family (in Vancouver). Facebook wasn’t invented back then so we didn’t see each other again until Chad and I flew over to Italy. Soon after that she came to Canada to live for a few months and our friendship grew into something that would resemble long lost sisters. With similar backgrounds and Italian blood running through our veins it only made sense. Now back in Italy I sit and wait for the day when she will come back and I can steal her forever!
Flat Eric
Flat Eric is the cutest little puppet I have ever seen. The first time I was introduced to him was in my cousins basement where he made me watch the music video for Flat Beatby Mr. Oizo. It was Flat Erics performance in that video that had me hooked! He is so cute and always looks so happy (but maybe that’s because he can’t make facial expressions). I tend to take him on trips and outings and always have my camera ready to snap pictures of him having fun. I love him to pieces!
Francesca
Francesca (on the left) and I are the same age and she was also one of bridesmaids. Growing up we didn’t see a lot of each other because I lived in the city and she lived in the country, but our paths would always cross at the Farm that my grandparents own. As we got older we got together more and more and now it’s almost on a monthly basis that we see each other. It’s usually the three of us, Francesca, Elise & I, along with our significant others, getting together for drinks, food, and each others company. Our favorite thing to do, aside from talking about Pride & Prejudice, is to sing songs from the Little Mermaid.
Juliana
Juliana (middle) and I have known each other for many years. We went to elementary school together, though we weren’t in the same grade. Her older brother and I sang in an Italian choir together for many years and I would always see her at events. From there we became friends and I would often spend time at her house ‘babysitting’ her. We would make mac and cheese while pretending to be on a cooking show and watch old family videos. We have a collection of inside jokes from those days that will never get old. Now we carry on the traditions of our Italian families and watch hockey games and attend banquet together.
The Parentals
This is my Ma and Pa. They been together for over 25 years and were each other first Boyfriend and Girlfriend. They have lived on the same property for their entire married lives together other then for a briefmoment in time when they were rebuilding our house. They go for walks together every night after dinner while Dad tried to convince Mom to go on a ride on his motorcycle. Oddly enough, they are both active readers of this here blog.
Marlee
Marlee and I met a few years back when she was dating one of my friends and wanted to come down from her home town to visit him as a surprise. We began to chat back and forth on Facebook until a few months later when she moved down to Vancouver to purse her dream of becoming a hairdresser. From there Marlee has become a great friends and an even better hair stylist! Marlee is always full of stories and entertainment and there is never a dull moment when shes around.
Matt
Matt and I met in first year Fashion. I stared at him a lot because I had never seen an Asian with hair like his. He always thought I was staring at him because I didn’t like him. Soon after that we became best friends and have been ever since. During school days I basically lived at his house sleeping over after late night classes and having numerous dinners. It was a perfect match as I loved everything his mom cooked and he loved everything my mom cooked. For Christmas he would get me expensive name brand items and I would get him packages of cured Italian meats. Hes obsessed with having me draped in expensive Italian brands and as long as hes buying them I’ll be wearing them!
PatZ
Pat and I met when we decided to throw an impromptu blogger party and no one showed up except for us and a few of our friends (who were not bloggers). He gave me his Canada flag to take on my Australia trip and I brought him back a little Koala. We chatted all summer long while he was back home in Edmonton and have been friends ever since. Chad likes to pick on him a lot but Pat is always good sport and fires back. He has helped us out in so many ways spending almost every day of the week at our apartment while we renovated it. We owe him a lot more then Chad will ever admit to. Life is not the same when Pat isn’t around. He has been a part of some of our best memories!
Ryan
Ryan is Elise’s husband and Chads favorite little buddy. The four of us are always together all the time. When Ryan was going to school he was my number one fan and would read my blog everyday and leave a comment for me to find. Now he is a working man and his blog reading days are few and far between. Ryan and Chad pretty much have a bromance and I swear they get together every week to talk about life and drink scotch. The four of us are often found on couches watching sports, at pubs drinking beer, or camping out in the Bone Yard.
Shaz
Shazzi is my hero. She is creative and funny and we spend all day chatting online. She makes every day special. Chad thinks she is a bad influence, but I think he’s just jealous that I like her more. We are sisters in rage and from that rage comes the greatest ideas of all time. She made me a birdcage necklace once, and her Mom made me an eternity scarf. Sometimes I make her food. Actually, I don’t really know what I offer to the relationship. She is much cooler then I am.
Sonia
Sonia’s family and my family have known each other for years. So long that my Mom actually use to babysit Sonia’s older siblings when she was in high school. But while our families have known each other forever, Sonia and I only really met a few years back when Juliana brought her as her date to the banquet. From there we would get together all the time at Italian events, each others house to watch hockey and play games, and of course at the local pub.
Steven
Steven is my younger brother by exactly 2 years and one week. He was most recently off in the Middle East going to school and studying stuff. He’s crazy like that. He likes growing his hair long like a hippy and listening to Indy bands you’ve never heard of. Hes a smart cookie and I don’t understand half the stuff he talks about. He loves math and once spent a day in Hawaii watching a math challenge show on TV instead of hanging out at the beach. Sometimes when our hair is styled the same way we look identical. We use to have the same glasses. He will probably grow up to be some guy who saves the world with math.
