Whistler Part 2
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009Part 2!
Sunday morning started off bright and early with Church, because we are good Catholics. There is only one Church in Whistler and it is very beautiful. I was going to take pictures of it but it was raining like a mofo so I didn’t get the chance.
Since the weather was so crappy and we were so tired we spent the morning being lazy.
Just before lunch we looked outside and saw that the weather was changing, so we made a break for it and ran outside.
It didn’t last long.
We went for lunch at this cute little lounge at one of the hotels in the village.
Chad made things out of the napkin and I spoke in a British accent.
Then we attempted to go for a walk, but it FAILED.
So the logical thing to do was take a nap.
And then go to the hot tub while it poured rain.
Rain drops kept falling on our heads.
That evening we went out for our Anniversary dinner at La Rua.
It was an amazing place and the service was excellent. I have never had a better experience in my life.
The food, sweet Jesus, the food was to die for. They even had a Summer special on which saved us quite a few pennies.
The next morning it was all about packing.
We stored our stuff and went for a walk through the village.
Monday was probably the best day for weather.
Oh…whats that down in the corner?
Me and my buddies!
A path to the Blackcomb side.
This was the restuarant we went to the night before.
Only problem was that we were dropped off at the back so we didn’t see this sign or know how to get in. Plus it was dark and rainy so it was quite the adventure to find it.
Back on the Whistler side we had lunch at Chads favorite pub before heading home.
Bye bye Whistler! We had a blast!
Whistler Part 1
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009I know, I know, all my posts lately have been over flowing with photos, but I always think that they are the best way to show people our lives, so deal with it!
Here is a look at our first two days on the mountain…
On the drive up Friday after work.
Dinner stop at A & W in Squamish.
Made it!
The Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside.
Quick stop over at the Longhorn. Which by the way, turns into a slutty bar after dark.
My $14 strawberry margarita. Yea. I didn’t know it was that much.
QUATCHI!
Another stop over at Dubh Lins Pub in our Hotel.
“The Devil invented Scotch whiskey to make the Irish poor.”
The next day…
They upgraded us to a Mountain View Room. I LOVE THIS VIEW!
A pretty accurate depiction of the weather that day.
Chad in the Hot Tub while I had a shower and watched the food network! Hahaha!
Out for lunch.
A quick walk around the village.
Up the mountain we go!
Stuck in a cloud. No idea where we are going.
Packed on the Peak to Peak in the rain and wind. It was pretty damn cool though!
Over on the Blackcomb side. It was so COLD, but that didn’t stop Chad from having a beer.
So obsessed with Vitamin Water.
Walking around Blackcomb.
These faces say it all.
Yup. Not even 10 degrees.
Whats this? Peak to Peak Gondola all to ourselves? Score 1 for the Ciavarros!
The weather cleared up a little on the way back to Whistler which was much appreciated.
Whistler Mountain Round House for our BBQ Dinner.
Back down the mountain.
Since dinner was nice and early at 5 we went back to the hotel and Chad hit up the hot tub while I watched a movie and then joined him once it stopped raining.
Then we got ready and headed out to Buffalo Bills. Another classic Whistler stop!
The people watching at Buffalo Bills is priceless.
This is when I made Chad stop at 1am for Poutine.
Nom Nom Nom so good!
Part 2 coming up!

A Gift for a Gift
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009In less then one month, Chad and I will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary, and over the past few weeks we have been discussing anniversary gifts and what each other wants. My whole stance on anniversaries, and anniversary gifts is that they should be sweet and meaningful and that there should absolutely be an exchange of gifts on your wedding anniversary. Our lives are so busy that some times it is hard to take the time to really show each other how we feel or even just take out time for ourselves. This is why I feel it is so important to put importance on our anniversary. It is essential to take time for yourselves if you are going to have a healthy and loving marriage.
This year we will be celebrating it in Whistler and it will actually be the first time we will have gone on vacation, just the two of us, since our Honeymoon. This year has been filled with so many events, and vacations with friends, that we haven’t been able to do anything, just the two of us. That is why I feel it is so important that we do something fun for our anniversary every year. Something that takes us away from our day to day business and allows us to reconnect. It doesn’t have to be big and fancy every year, but it does have to be something, away from home, and just the two of us.
The traditional gift for a first anniversary is Paper, while the modern gift is a clock, and there is just something so cute and endearing about taking the list of tradition and modern anniversary gifts and following them as each year passes. Chad was originally thinking of getting me a new laptop or winter coat for our anniversary, but then I realized that while useful, those are the kinds of gifts you give on a birthday or at Christmas, not the sentimental or meaningful gifts you give on an anniversary. This is when we came up with the idea of following the list.
For Paper we have the reservation info for our Hotel in Whistler and for Clocks we were thinking about getting his and hers watches.
Chad has been talking about getting a new watch forever. He has one that needed a new battery, which he finally got fixed last week, but the watch was technically a gift from an old girlfriend, and while that really does not bother me at all (considering I have old jewelery from ex-boyfriends) it would be nice to see him wearing a watch his WIFE gave him.
I actually don’t even own a watch. I use to be obsessed with them back in high school and had a bunch of different ones that I would wear all the time, but I eventually grew out of that phase and then never wore watches again. The only watch I still own is the own my Godparents gave me for my confirmation, but it’s gold so I don’t wear it often.
Unlike Chad, I don’t even know what style, or shape, or brand of watch I want. All I know is I want it to be someone fancy and silver. We are going to go to the Bay this weekend to see what the have, as that is where Chad spotted one that he liked.
While it won’t be a surprise I think it will be really cute to have his and hers watches that we can have engraved and be reminded of our first anniversary every time we wear them. My parents still have and wear the watches they gave each other and I think it is such classic and ‘timeless’ gift to give that we will basically have forever.
Now, I just have to figure out what I want. Any watch suggestions?
