oo I Love My Shirt!

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

A little while ago I was given the opportunity by ooShirts to custom design a T-Shirt for myself. Since I live in the land of fashion and design, I though I would take this opportunity to go a little old school and create a tribute T-shirt for my blog.

While browsing their website I got the idea to use a quote for my t-shirt, since I don’t really have any sort of logo and didn’t particularly want to go with a photo. I also love football jerseys and since they had the option to add numbers and a name to the back of the t-shirt I was sold on the idea.

“All I got is a diamond ring and a Fendi purse, otherwise I look like trash”

This has literally described my everyday appearance for as long as I can remember. There is no other quote that is more me, or more this blog!

I also figured that if I was really going to go old school I was going to have to do an old school photo shoot. Only, this time it was much harder to do with a DSLR.

This photo shoot is so old school smelly and I friggin love it haha! You think I can single handily bring back 2006!?

The ooShirt website was so easy to use that it took me forever to figure out just how I wanted my T-shirt to look. With so many options and such great quality shirts I played around with colours and layouts for hours. They even give you the option to figure out how much your custom shirt would cost before sending off the final design. Genius!

The whole process of creating and ordering my shirt was effortless, and even at the very last minute when I realized I had made a mistake on something, I called them up and someone was able to help me and fix my shirt on the spot. Talk about great customer service!

Now I can’t wait to go out and wear my T-shirt! It is so awesome I can’t even tell you!

Thank You ooShirts!

Pinkberry in Vancouver

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

I was lucky enough to be invited as Miss Alicia Quans personal guest to the launch of Canadas first ever Pinkberry. I love Pinkberry. Actually, I’m kind of obsessed with Pinkberry. Both times Claudia and I have been to LA for work I’ve made her stop and get a Pinkberry almost everyday. So naturally, when Alicia asked me if I wanted to go with her to a Pinkberry event I said YES!

Pinkberry

The evening started off a bit rocky. Alicia had mapped out how to get to Park Royal and we took the Iron Workers Memorial bridge into North Van and followed the instructions. Well, somewhere along the way we had to make a choice as to whether we wanted to go to Whistler or Vancouver, according to the overhead sign. Well, Vancouver, obviously. WRONG. We ended up going over the Lions Gate Bridge back into Vancouver. 45 minutes later we had enjoyed a nice scenic tour of Stanley Park, downtown Vancouver, and North Van, before finally arriving at Park Royal! Oh well, better late than never, right?

Bonnie Dunn

The band Bonnie Dunn was playing and there were many a screaming girls because it just so happens that Cory Monteith of Glee fame is their drummer.

Jen & Melissa

Miss Melissa and Miss Jennifer were there also. It was good to finally see Melissa after what feels forever and it was super nice to meet Jennifer who is also a fellow blogger!

It was a great event despite our little detour to downtown Vancouver. It was nice to meet other fashion bloggers such as the lovely Solo Lisa and to mingle with all the whos who of the Pinkberry world.

We left the event just after 8 and there was still a HUGE line of people waiting to get into the store. I was super glad we got the Royal treatment and were able to have some delicious frozen yogourt without the wait!

Now I really need to plan more date in North Van.

Happy Blogiversary

Today is my Blogiversary!

6 years ago today I wrote my first ever post on Blogger.

While technically I started blogging back in February of 2005 the site that I used no longer exists, and at the time, you weren’t a blogger unless you used Blogger. So I made the switch and the rest was history!

In celebration of 6 amazing years in the blogsphere I ordered 6 pretty cupcakes from Heidi of the Cakelicious Cakes Company. Heidi is the Queen of Cupcakes. I have honestly never had a better cupcake in my life! I figured after 6 years I deserved something sweet to celebrate.

Back when I first started on this journey there was a small community of us bloggers who all shared a common thread, our love of music made by Vancouvers own Matthew Good. Through our love of his music we came together organizing Blogstocks and parties where we all meet up and enjoyed each others company (in person, not through our computers)! One of the most amazing nights was seeing Matt Good perform at the Commodore where I was surrounded by people who I only knew through the blogging world. We all knew each other and yet we had never met; something that was so foreign back then.

That night was probably one of the most memorable nights I have ever experience. I mean, it does help that I met Mr. Ciavarro that night too ;)

Things have changed so much since then. Our little community is no more with most people chosing to close down their blogs (though we still all keep in touch) and social networking taking over the world. It went for me becoming friends with someone after finding their blog and enjoying it to all my friends starting blogs of their own.

Technology moves so fast that it kind of feels like I started blogging in the 80′s and in 6 short years is already 2011. I feel so old school haha! It must feel even weirder for epic bloggers like Tony and Raymi who were around way before me. So many people have come and gone yet they are both going strong. Their blogs truly stand the test of time. I just hope that one day I might get the chance to join their ranks as Epic Bloggers.

This blog has offered me amazing things over the past 6 years. It has given me an outlet to express myself, a place to post  my 5 billion pictures and tell my 10 page long stories. I have met some of my best friends through this blog (The Jew & Shazzi B) and even met the love of my life (which IS the greatest gift this blog has ever given me).

I love my blog and I can’t imagine myself ever slowing down.

I’d Tumblr For Ya

Friday, February 18th, 2011

Yup, I got Tumblr.

I thought about it for a long time. I didn’t really get what it was all about, but after chatting with Shaz, and realizing that some of my favorite sites are tumblr pages, I figured I might as well join the craze.

I’ll mainly be using my Tumblr as an extension of my Twitter. It will fulfill my ‘visual’ needs.

As I said in my Tumblr Header, I’ve been scrap booking my favorite magazine images since I was a kid. I would spend Summers going through all the magazines I had saved up that year and would go on a tearing spree. I have numerous scrapbooks filled with my favorite images. Tumblr will be my digital scrapbook.

If you have a tumblr, let me know! I would love to check it out :)

So many blog lurkers, so little blog commenters.

I did, however, enjoy this Spammers comment…

“Eating, loving, singing and pooping are, in actuality, the four acts of the mirthful opera known as freshness, and they pass like bubbles of a grit of champagne. Whoever lets them break without having enjoyed them is a entire fool.”

Eating, loving, singing and pooping. They know why too much about Chads favorite activities…
