Modern Geometry

I kind of feel all out of sorts this morning, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe I feel on edge because one of my co-workers is back today after a week long vacation and I have this feeling she is going to over react to about 100 things and then run around like a nut for most of the day making it look like she is the business person here. She likes to do that a lot. I guess I just feel anxious. I sent her an email basically putting my foot down on this fabric issue I have been dealing with for the past few months that is actually her responsibility. I’m a little frustrated with the way she has been dealing with it and then dumping it on me. I finally decided to say something to her when it came up again last week while she was gone. Guess I am a little anxious for a response.

Last nights dinner went well. I did spend 5 hours madly preparing everything before Chads parents came over but it was so worth it. It was the most prepared I have ever been for a dinner. I baked lemon squares & raspberry coconut square, Peccorino cheese crackers, made roasted garlic mashed potatoes with mozza cheese in the middle, and a mushroom dish all before they came over. I think I finally mastered making the perfect amount of food for dinner with the right amount of leftovers. The only glitch, of course, is finding out what your guests do and do not like to eat, but other then that it was one of the best dinners we have ever had. I’m slowly starting to learn.

Yesterday was exhausting and tonight I am going to bed at 10pm and snuggle and fall asleep asap. I am sooo looking forward to it.

Humm…looks like everyone is late this morning. I’ll blog more later.

The Easter Bunny is not Dead

The Bowl

I guess I forgot how much time going to church and hanging out with family actually takes up  because I really didn’t get anything of what I wanted to do done this weekend. Sunday was the one day I actually got to relax and read a book on the couch which is kind of ironic because it was Easter Sunday and I probably should have been my busiest day.

Friday was gone in a flash. We ended up watching TV in bed all morning and then falling back asleep only to wake up and realize we should probably run some errands before having to head to church. Of course  because of the sleeping in we couldn’t finish everything so we made a few stops, headed over to the Good Friday Service, and then over to my Zio Paul & Zia Suzy’s for Fish n’ Chips with a bunch of my other Aunts & Uncles & Cousins.

Saturday was suppose to be relaxing but we ended up driving all over the city. Out to South Surrey to go to Pier One to pick up some new drinking glasses, pit stop at walmart to get a bath matt and shower curtain, then over to Papa Ciavarros for lunch and some computer fixing. Next we stopped in at the Tangs to see little baby Marcus who fell asleep in my arms, oh so cute, and a last minute pop in to Safeway. We also got invited to Grandma Ciavarros for dinner at the last minute so we had to rush home to change and then go over there. All the Ciavarro Aunts & Uncles were there and it was nice to visit with them since we mostly hang out with Chads Moms side of the family.

Mini Eggs

Papa Ciavarro is such a beauty. While at dinner Chads Mom was telling the story about how her sister bought this Bengal Cat for $1000 and so Chads Dad pipes in and yells, “A thousand bucks! What does this cat do, shit gold pellets?”. Chad and I were hysterical. His Mom goes back to telling the story and again he pipes in,  ”What did they name the cat? Rip Off?” Chad and I lost it. Omg it was the funniest thing we had heard in a long time, and when Chad gets hysterical he gets this look on his face which makes me loose it even more because its not very often that I see this expression.

Ahh but anyways. After dinner we went to Easter Vigil which is on Saturday night which is why we didn’t go to church on Easter Sunday. Just so we are clear.

Sunday night we had dinner at the parentals house with Chads parents, and sister, and children, and other family. There was 14 of us. It got loud quickly. But nothing was broken and everyone ate and overall I think it was a sucessful night.

All Full

Anyways, I am stuck in the warehouse all day again today. I’ve snuck away for a second to post this but I’ve got to get back in there. Alicia, apparently you are getting a new Photo room and I’m spending all day cleaning it out. At least its something to do! I hate these posts written in a rush. I always feel like I’ve missed something.

Magnificent Fish like Beasts

I’m not really sure what to write. Weeks of posting ever day and sometimes more, filled with inspiration and things to say have left me here thoughtless. I come to this place every day and try my best to amuse myself and make the time pass with out letting anyone realize I’m not doing any work, because there is no work to do. And this lack of work to do leaves my mind blank and uninspired.

Friday night I put my PJ’s on the minute I got home. Chad had actually left work early so it was the first time in weeks he was home before me. I lay on the couch with 20 blankets and didn’t want to move.

Eventually I made dinner. I took a recipe that I had tired months before and altered it to make it taste 10 times better then the first time. It called for lots of Mayo which made it very rich in taste. I love Mayo so I didn’t alter that. I don’t care how fattening it is.

We spent the evening on the couch catching up on movies that people have lent us and watched The Darjeeling Limited. It was totally a ‘Danielle’ movie and I could tell that it took Chad a while to get into.

Saturday I tossed and turned between cleaning parts of the apartment and lazing out on the couch. There was a large part of me that just wanted to sit and watch TV even though I knew the bathroom was a disaster and that I should probably do some laundry.

We met Alicia and Adam at the Stadium and found ourselves sitting in the most amazing seats in the entire world. I actually saw goals scored. I actually saw expressions on players faces. I actually saw penalties in the making. Not mention the fact that we were leading the game 3 – 0 in the first period. Unheard of. The game was so exciting we could not have asked for a better night. The Canucks Orca even died right above us. It was crazy like that.

I also realized that the only time Twitter is actually entertaining is when you are out somewhere and your genius of a Husband comes up with witty remarks to write down.

After the game we each headed our separate ways and Chad and I went home to watch hockey highlights and ended up spotting us in several shots. It helped that Chad was wearing a giant white hoodie.

Sunday I finished up a couple of things and then we sat down to watch our newest DVD series obsession, Long Way Round. My Dad lent it to us because it is his most favorite series ever.  Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman ride their motorcycles around the world and filmed their journey. We only got through the first two episodes which is basically about their preparation with some highlights of what ends up happening. The journey looks amazing but some bad things happen and I started stressed out just thinking about them. I actually can’t wait to watch it. They go through Russia which is a quite fitting really because I have a new obsession with Eastern Europe. Weird but true.

After watching the episodes we went to the In-Laws for dinner. My parentals were there too. Dinner was tasty as always and we talked a lot about smuggling Cheese across the border. Also weird but true.

Tonight I am going out to dinner with the work Chiquas, we just have to find a place downtown to eat.

Weekend Review on a Tuesday

Friday night was the night we got together with Dario & Marlee and the rest of the bridal party for a little Engagement Party of sorts. We started off at the Cactus Club but there was an hour and a half wait to get in. Since we were not up for that we headed across the street to Boston Pizza, a little more casual then what we were dressed for, but they could take us right away. We ended up spending something like 4 hours there eating, drinking, chatting and watching the boys try and flip 27 coasters at a time. They even had the waitress in on the game.

Saturday I was so ahead of the game and got so much stuff done that I actually had time in the afternoon to watch a bit of TV and relax before dinner. This is something that almost never happens. The boys were downstairs having their little band practice and I had the house to myself to draft out a pair of shorts that I am making for one of my friends. After band practice Pat ended up sticking around so I started on dinner. Garlic Bacon Mashed Potatoes, Steak, Salad, Steamed Veggies, and some bread. I had everything timed out perfectly and things where going smoothly, until I decided to slice up the bread.

I was cutting up a baguette and was down to the end where I was going to cut one more slice. So I was holding the little bum part, put the bread knife down to slice, the bread slips, my hand falls down, and I proceed to slice through my index finger and nail. SWEET! So I am bleeding all over the place and yelling for Chad to come help me but all he has to offer me is the suggestion that I grab a band aid. This piece of advice would have worked if I was dripping blood everywhere. The blood would have just soaked through the band aid and it would have been useless. I needed to STOP the bleeding but Chad didn’t quite seem to understand this.  So I run it under so cold water to wash it out and then grab a bunch of Kleenex to wrap it up. I am holding it tight and above my head (apply pressure and elevate!) and Chad started to laugh at me asking what I am doing. “APPLY PRESSURE AND ELEVATE” I yell at him. Clear the man has NO first aid experience.

All Cut Up
This was taken yesterday – 2 days after the initial slice!

Just as I am doing this all the timers go off in the kitchen informing me that my veggies are done and need to be tended too. So I am freaking out and trying to figure how the hell I am going to do this. I grab a fresh Kleenex, re wrap my wound, ask for some tape and end up with Chad duct taping my entire finger. Alright, I guess that will do. All the steamed veggies ended up being too over done but I was able to save the Mashed Potatoes of Awesomeness.

Dinner was a disaster because I could barely eat and I kept holding my finger up in the air hoping it would stop the bleeding while I attempted to eat with the other hand. I was also in a rush because Elise and Ryan were going to be over in half an hour to pick us up to go to the Giants game. Thankfully Pat and Chad cleaned up for me as I tried to get changed and re wrap my finger with something other then duct tape. I was just all out of sorts.

We got to the game just as it started, to find out that our section of the bleachers/seats hadn’t been pulled out properly so when you sat down there was about a 3 inch clearance between the end of the seat and the person in front of you. This made it very awkward to sit so the boys attempted to steal seats further down the section that weren’t as bad. The game was good and we ended up wining 7 – 0 or something crazy like that.

After the game we were all a bit hungry so we went to the Old Admiral. Remember, that place Chad and I went and that turned out to be full of drunk people our parents age dancing to the live blues band. While that is fine and dandy for Chad I was a little skeptical going back there a second time. Luckily we sat in the front of the pub which is more restaurant/lounge like then the back which is all little tables of people drinking and a big dance floor. There was sat in a huge comfy booth, ordered some drinks and food, watched tennis on the big screen and got into a 3 hour long debate about strippers. Fitting really since the Old Admiral use to be the NBI which was a strip club. The experience was way  better then our first one because you were still able to hear and listen to the music but you could also carry on a conversation.

Sunday was the day we got up early and started our day our with a bunch of tasks. I got everything done including under-baking the cookies. Ha. Sunday night we went out to White Rock to visit with the in laws. Chads Mom made such a good meal which was right up my all (stir fried veggies, Asian salad, rice and ribs). Chad on the other hand complained about the lack of Garlic Bread with the meal. That boy and his Garlic Bread. We hung around until 9 or so and then headed off home were we relaxed and I fell asleep while Chad read a book out loud.

The whole finger slice totally put me all out of sorts the entire weekend. Its so weird how your body reacts to something like that. You would have thought I had cut off a limb or something. Crazy damn finger!
