Jacob and Kari

Last Saturday my cousin Jacob married his wife, Kari. I took lots of pictures.

Ever since Dad nixed the moustache people comment on how much he looks like Steven. Funny because with his moustache people use to comment on how much he looked like me…

We have a long standing joke that I am his father and he is my daughter. It’s been 15 years in the making.

New Dress
Jewels

I wore a new dress I got from Plum (naturally). I was going to wear a big statement necklace but my jewelery drawer is in a state of emergency and I couldn’t find anything I liked. Instead I went for layered pieces of silver.

I have veiny hands. It’s a family thing.

Time to DANCE

Things started to get silly when the music came on.

I married this guy.

There is nothing quite like a Rossi wedding. I have the best cousins in the world.

Even my Dad got into it. I wish I had snapped a picture of Uncle Jim too. He started the Sun Glasses trend.

Tired

We ended the evening off with a drive to Mc Donalds where Chad accidentaly opened Elises window which was holding her Canucks car flag. Her flag flew off into the night. We tried looking for it but is was gone. Therefore we blame Chad for the Canucks last two loses. But don’t worry, he bought her a new flag and will be giving it to her tonight. Hopefully that will remidy the situation.

Alexis and Dave

Since Saturday (my actual birth DAY) was going to be a gong show of activity, Chad said he wanted to give me my birthday card on Friday night. I was told that my birthday present was not yet available because he ordered it through work (they have a special deal with Nikon) and he wasn’t sure when exactly it was arriving. So Friday night he gave me my card and it was all adorable. Then after dinner he turned to me and said, “You know your Birthday present has been in plain view all evening”. I knew exactly where to look. 3 small-ish boxes were scattered around the book case. It had arrived! My shiny new Nikon D3100 Digital SLR. I was in love.

We spent the evening figuring out all the features and taking test pictures. It was so easy to figure out and even ‘boring pictures’ looked amazing through the viewfinder. Finally I’d be able to have the picture quality I had always envied! Saturday was oing to be a perfect day to try it out.

As I mentioned in earlier posts, my cousin Alexis got married on Saturday. The timing of everything worked out quite nicely with the ceremony at 11, and lunch from 12:00 -3. It ended up leaving lots of time to watch the Canucks lose (they never win when they play on my Birthday, its a fact) and then head to a late birthday dinner with friends.

Mister Blue Eyes

Doesn’t Mr. Ciavarro look so handsome. I dressed him myself ;)

Alexis & Dave

Alexis and her husband Dave got married at the same church Chad and I did. Its tradition. Everyone gets married at my uncles church.

Aren’t they just the cutest couple EVER.

Alexis' Dress

Alexis made her wedding dress with the assistance of a family friend. Yup, she’s just as crazy as me! I absolutely loved her dress. Pale grey, 1940 styling, yellow accents. STUNNING! Anyone can go out and buy a pretty white wedding dress and look beautiful, but I love it when someone chooses a dress that suits them so well you can’t imagine them wearing anything else.

Their reception was at the Rainflower Restaurant in Richmond. Yup, Dim Sum for all!

I had only ever been out for Dim Sum once so I somewhat knew what the expect. The food was so good, I could have sat there all day and stuffed my face. Pork Wontons, Deep Fried Tofu, BBQ’d Pork Buns, Chinese Broccoli, BBQ’d Duck, Fried Rice, Prawns, Noodles with Pork, Spring rolls, and more! It was such a different but amazing reception experience.

Me

I appriciated the fact that the attention was taken away from it being my Birthday and placed on Alexis for it being her wedding day! Haha!

Oh Boys...
The Cousins

I always love getting together with my cousins when everyone is dressed up. It’s like we are mature classy adults. Well, for the most part.

Ma
Hey you...

Chad is my number one photography subject. I should publish a book filled with random pictures of Chad.

Over all it was a great wedding. Different from the traditional big Italian wedding, but a welcome change. The food was awesome, the restaurant was beautiful and the Bride & Groom looked like they were straight out of a movie!

Well, the wedding was a success, despite all the things that were thrown at Ryan and Elise this week. It was all pulled together nicely, and was one of the best weddings I’ve ever been too. Elise and Ryan are now in Mexico, relaxing the week away, and then get to come home to a brand new condo and lots and lots of wedding gifts. Not too shabby if you ask me!

A few highlights and stories of the day…

  • I was suppose to have the 9am hair and make up slot, but since we were a head of schedule (by a lot), I was woken up at 6:15am to start the getting ready process. Sweet Jesus!
  • During the ceremony, my Uncle (who performed the wedding) accidentally hit the mike button and all of a sudden radio waves were coming over the PA system. He made a joke about it being the Devil and everyone laughed. Amazing save!
  • My hand shook from being so nervous when I had to sign as their witness. I don’t know why I was so nervous.
  • Chad and I were basically the shortest people in the bridal party.
  • We took pictures at Deer Lake Park.
  • Zia Patrizia made the best Roast Beef Sammich ever.
  • Our shoes killed our feet.
  • The girls went back to the hall early to finish setting everything up.
  • I contracted a giant head ache.
  • Luckily I had my over night bag in my Dads car and was able to take out my contacts, which added to the pain of said headache.
  • There was a large Italian wedding in the hall beside us, and a small Russian/Eastern European wedding beside that.
  • Nervousness + Giant Head Ache = Upset stomach – which meant I barely ate anything. This really sucked because the food looked so good, but I knew if I tired I would end up sicker then I felt. I’d really like to go to a wedding and actually be able to eat the food!
  • Finally it was speech time. I think I did a good job. People laughed. I was happy!
  • I cried like a baby for everyone else’s speeches. I have no idea whats wrong with me.
  • We danced a lot.
  • Chad busted his knee on Friday helping Ryan out so his dancing was down to a minimum.
  • Colin and I planned out an Italian dinner we will make on Sunday.
  • While walking from the bar to the dance floor I slipped on some spilled drinks and landed on my side. My hip hurt like a bitch, but the pain was gone by the next day. Now my shoulder and arm is killing me. I can barely use it. Le sigh.
  • The Russians from the other wedding were nuts. One guy got super wasted and spent the majority of the night in the court yard attempting not to fall into the bushes. Eventually he did and then proceeded to full on punch himself in the face. Priceless.
  • Ryan and Elise were on the dance floor all night long.
  • Dario was on fire the whole night.
  • We sang a lot.
  • By the time our second cab came (the first one was stolen by Russians) we were officially the last people at the hall.

Now, there is so much to clean and organize at home and in our lives. Everything’s been put on the back burner for a while now, so we have to catch up.

I wish I was relaxing in Mexico!

Its Just a Feeling

CIMG9364

We return from a rainy weekend in Whistler to a bright and sunny week in Vancouver. Damn you weather! But despite the fact that we were drowned rats, we did have a fun and relaxing trip. I’ve uploaded all the photos and will do a post about it this afternoon. I have an abundance of them!

As for now, its off to work on a bunch of stuff before heading out to LA tomorrow. I can’t believe its time for that already. I do feel slightly panicked about it all, but hopefully we can get everything organized today and then I will feel much better about it all.

There are also men fixing the roof in the warehouse this morning and it is making an huge amount of noise and even more debris falling from the sky. It’s a bit of a bad scene out there right now, and yours truely has to head in that direction in about 15 minutes to go fix a mistake one of the factories made. There is nothing that frustrates me more in this industry then when you clearly show and describe what you want, and then it comes in not as you asked, and then YOU have to spend the next two hours fixing something that should have been done right the first time.

Work Work Work.
